Joining the WA Global Network Association

U.S. schools seeking to grow the quality of their International Student Program may apply to be members of the WA Global Network Association

There are 3 Tiers of membership in the Association:

Tier 1

Featured Partner Schools (5-10)

Schools who are selected for Featured Partner status are recognized as having flagship international student programs and are compliant with Association member status. These schools have been selected based on the quality of their programs, references from alumni and former parents, and their desire and willingness to accept WA Global Network student placements for the 2019-20 school year.

Tier 2

Association Member Schools

Schools in the Association Member status have undergone training with WA Global Network and have indicated their agreement and compliance with the following program components:

  • Compliance with ACSI’s International Student Program endorsement standards
  • Strong Institutional Reputation
  • Individual Attention from a designated program leader (in addition to the host parents) who assists international students on campus and in the host home relationship
  • Emotional wellness support for international students as they develop inter-cultural competencies, adjust to roommates, American friendships, and host family relationships, and navigate the American classroom
  • High academic standards with AP offerings and English and academic support
  • School-wide clubs and activities open to international students with some opportunities specifically designed for the international student participant
  • SAT/ACT/TOEFL preparation and Specialized university counseling and placement
  • Opportunity for holistic spiritual growth, discipleship and mentoring
  • Host family training and evaluation
  • Communication to sending parents with at least one conference call per semester to discuss student progress with the host family, sending family, student, and Program leader

Tier 3

Candidate for Member Schools

Schools in the Candidate for Member status have expressed a desire to meet Association Member status and are actively working to build or improve the quality of their International Student Programs

Association Benefits

The following are benefits of joining the WA Global Network Association:

  1. Registration to the October 2018 International Student Program Conference includes a complimentary membership in the WA Global Network Association.
  2. Opportunity to share and learn best practices with other schools through our quarterly newsletter
  3. Access to an online resource portal of best practice resources
  4. 4 webinars throughout the school year to extend our learning beyond the fall conference
  5. Discounted rate for on-campus training for board, administration, teachers, host families and students.
  6. Practical advice and consultation in difficult situations during the school year
  7. Discounted rate for new incoming students to attend SEI for School Preparation Track in July 2019 (student’s family pays)

Standards for Featured Partner Schools

  1. Compliance with ACSI’s International Student Program endorsement standards

WA Global Network affirms ACSI’s International Student Program endorsement standards and seeks to equip and train schools to meet these standards of education and care for international students.  While these ISP endorsement standards were written with ACSI accreditation in mind, WA Global Network is affirming them and considering schools’ compliance to them within our organization.

It is expected that all Association and Featured Partner Schools would apply for the ACSI International Student Program endorsement process during their next accreditation visit.

  3. Review the ACSI International Student Program Endorsement standards and review your current program according to these standards, looking for opportunities to improve and innovate care and educational opportunities for international students.
  4. Share the WA Global Network Association with other like-minded schools so we can all benefit from each other’s collective wisdom in this movement.
